The province is particularly keen to ensure that youngsters not only attain qualifications, but are also equipped with the necessary cultural baggage to play their role in society. Thankfully, most of its youth are capable of achieving this under their own steam. There is also a group that runs the risk of falling by the wayside, however, unless it receives additional assistance and supervision. The youth welfare organisations that focus on this group are also the responsibility of the province.
Practical experience
In their eagerness to learn, the people of Brabant have discovered that a great deal of knowledge can be gained through practical experience. The universities of Tilburg and Eindhoven therefore cooperate closely with trade and industry in the field of R&D. Both the aforementioned universities and Fontys University of Applied Sciences also collaborate with hospitals and insurers at Brabant Medical School.
Those in Brabant who envisage a future for themselves in the area of agriculture, horticulture, cattle breeding or the food industry generally study either in ’s-Hertogenbosch, at the higher agricultural institute, or at Wageningen University (in the neighbouring province of Gelderland) which is the leading international institute in its field. TNO Automotive accumulates the knowledge of the automation industry in Helmond.
Design, art and music
Creativity in the field of design, art and music is practiced at academic level at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, Tilburg’s Rock Academy and Conservatory, and at the art academies in Breda, Tilburg and ’s -Hertogenbosch. Furthermore, Breda University of Applied Sciences is the oldest established vocational training institute for the tourist sector. Eindhoven also has several international schools providing primary and secondary education.
