Constant help at hand
Many elderly people are one step away from needing regular care; however, they are not quite ready for this. Technical support that offers a variety of services lends them a helping hand to live in their familiar environment for longer. This is called 'domotica' or, to put it simple, home automation.
Huis & Erf started to implement Smart Care services into the new residential building at the Deken Baekershof in Schijndel. A total of 55 apartments for elderly people will be equipped with domotica and communication facilities through displays enabling them to live independently for longer.
Video calling with neighbours, children or carers, life line support, adjusting blinds and lights and picking up the 'menu of the day' via the cable TV information service of the nearby care home. For 16 residents of the Deken Baekersstraat, this has already become reality and they will be able to enjoy many more services in future. The province of Noord-Brabant wholeheartedly supports this initiative which helps the elderly to be independent for longer and maintains affordable care.
