During the past few decades, society has become increasingly individualised. Some of its former pillars have been broken, thus releasing large groups of people from the perceived shackles of the community in which they live.

BikerideAlthough this increased level of freedom offers huge benefits to all, it does have a downside. For instance, it can no longer be taken for granted that people are willing to actively participate in their own community.

Optimism
As a result, those who are housebound run the risk of becoming isolated and people are more readily inclined to mistrust their neighbours, while their neighbourhoods become run-down. The province is keen to rekindle the sense of optimism, while encouraging its citizens to make a positive contribution (once more) to the communities where they live.
