The province is actively involved in the development of housing policy, and sees to it that there is suitable availability of housing for all age ranges.

HousesThe average residential density of Brabant matches that of the Netherlands; 60% live in cities and towns, which include a few medium-sized cities and a number of smaller cities and (fortified) towns.

Mediaeval centres
The cities often comprise traditional mediaeval centres with later extensions and are usually on a human scale and orderly. Tilburg in contrast also boasts one of the Netherlands tallest residential buildings: The 49-storey-high Westpoint. Although Brabant also has its share of modern society’s problems, it eagerly endeavours to secure a bright future for everybody.

Dated residential areas neighbourhoods are therefore usually treated to a makeover and new facilities. The remaining 40% of the population lives in villages, even though most people in Brabant work either in or near a city.
